Congratulations to the Powerlifting Team who competed in the Waterford Union High School Regional Meet before break. The team did extremely well bringing 1st place trophies for Men’s Raw JV, Women’s Raw JV, Men’s Equipped Varsity, and Women’s Equipped Varsity. A special congratulations goes out to Rio Sanyaolu and Bella Gelhaar who both took home Best Lifter trophies. Please congratulate all lifters
on a fantastic meet and wish them luck as they prepare for the Elkhorn regional meet on January 14th!
The Warhawks won the last two games over Wauwatosa East and Beaver Dam.
Germantown took down the Red Raiders 68-53 on Tuesday, December 20th. Four players helped the team with the win, scoring in double figures. Juniors Peyton Mckenna and Ryan Ferguson had 12 points each. Will Van Fossen had 10 points and Mason Freiburger finished with 10 points and 8 rebounds.
Over holiday break the Warhawks beat Beaver Dam by a score of 78 to 53. Will Van Fossen and Mason Freiburger both had 13 points. Freiburger also grabbed 7 rebounds. Peyton McKenna finished with 10 points and dished out 8 assists. Ryan Ferguson had 12 points and was named player of the game by Beaver Dam.

The Varsity Boys and Girls Basketball Teams
The Germantown Girls' Basketball Team played three games over the past two weeks against teams ranked in the top ten in the state in the most recent WBCA Division 1 poll. They finished the stretch with wins over #7 Verona and #10 Homestead and a loss to #1 Kaukauna.
The Warhawks defeated Verona 75-74 over winter break at the Watertown Shootout. KK Arnold scored 29 points, going over the 2,000 point mark in her career. Lucy Leininger had 22 points in the win, while Madeline Jakusz contributed 10 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists.
The following night Germantown lost to Kaukauna 86-77, despite getting 39 points from KK Arnold. The Warhawks rebounded with a 83-73 overtime victory against former North Shore Conference rival Homestead on Tuesday. KK Arnold led four players in double digits with 23 points. She also had 9 rebounds, 7 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocked shots. Danica Gosz hit a huge 3-point shot to send the game to overtime and then started the extra period with two more trifectas to finish with 17 points. Lucy Leininger also had 17 points, while Jaycee Mani put in 15 points for the night. Reese Berge contributed 8 rebounds, 3 assists and 3 steals to the winning cause.

The Bears had several games over break. The first game played over the break was the first conference game against Homestead on Wednesday, December 21st. The team got off to a quick start when Trevor Newkirk scored a power play goal less than four minutes into the game. The goal was assisted by Camden Luedtke. In the second period only one goal was scored. Camden Luedtke scored a power play goal with just over 3 minutes left to give the team a 3-1 lead going into the final period. The team went on to score three more goals in the third period with two of those goals being assisted by Camden Luedtke and Trevor Newkirk. The Bears are currently 1-0 in conference with this 6-1 win.
After Christmas the Bears traveled to Appleton for a tournament. It was known going into the tournament that the competition would be tough. The first game was against Neenah, who knocked the Bears out of the playoffs last season. The game was tied 2-2 after regulation with Camden Luedtke assisting one of the goals. After an 8 minute 5 vs. 5 overtime the score remained tied. Double overtime goes down to 3 vs. 3 for 5 minutes. Neenah scored with about 1:20 left in overtime to win the game.
The next game was against Marquette. After a slow start the Bears found themselves trailing 3-0 in the 2nd period. Reid Newkirk buried a goal to make it a 3-1 deficit. In the third period the Bears scored another goal assisted by Stone Daczka but it was too little too late. They went on to lose 4-2.
The final game was a shootout against Eau Claire North. Eau Claire took a 2-0 lead less than 5 minutes into the game. The Bears fought back, getting two goals of their own to tie it up. One of the goals was scored by Camden Luedtke and the other was assisted by Luedtke and Trevor Newkirk. Eau Claire went on to take a 3-2 lead by the end of the period. In the 2nd period Camden Luedtke scored 1:20 into the period to tie the game. Eau Claire responded by scoring 4:44 into the period. Not to be outdone, Luedtke netted another goal at the 5:27 point in the period. The period remained tied until Eau Claire scored with 6 seconds left in the period. In the third period the Bears tied it up when Reid Newkirk scored an unassisted goal 11 minutes into the period. Eau Claire responded 30 seconds later to take a 1 goal lead. The Bears nearly scored as time ran out, but ended up losing 6-5.
The Bears are ready to get back on track tonight with a home game against KMMO at 8:00 p.m. Good luck!
The girls' hockey co-op team is currently competing at the UW Panther Arena today and tomorrow. GOOD LUCK! They then head to Fond Du Lac on Monday for a 7:30 varsity and 9:30 pm JV game.
Over Winter break the Germantown Boys' Swim Team hosted Menomonee Falls/Sussex Hamilton for a dual meet. There was some serious swimming that happened but a lot of fun was also had with prize heats and team themes.
Connor Warmke placed 1st in the 50 breast, 2nd in the 100 breast, and 2nd in the 50 free. Jayden Knight placed 3rd in the 100 IM and 5th in the 50 fly and 100 back.
This week we compete in a dual meet against Waukesha West and at the Bulldog Invite on Saturday. Good luck!
