The Wall of Sound closed out the competition season at the WSMA State Marching Band Championships at UW-Whitewater. In a very tight ranking, the band earned 4th place with a score of 75.875. There was only 1.15 points separating 2nd and 4th place. Throughout the entire season, the students improved at every step. The journey from May to October was one that everyone was proud to be a part of. Great Job, Wall of Sound!! You represented Germantown with pride and honor. The advisors look forward to seeing how you continue to grow next year.
The Wall of Sound Indoor Showcase is Tuesday, Nov. 1 at 7:00 pm in the field house. The free concert includes performances from the KMS 8th Grade Band, Color Guard Workshop, the Wall of Sound, and a 5th Quarter Grand Finale. Please come and join us in this celebration of a great year!

They include Dani Martinez, HS Band; Jane Tretheway, HS Band; Crystal Schelonka, HS Band; Emma Pawlak, HS Band; Em Foran, HS Treble Choir; Owen Addison, HS Band; Zoey Grekso, MS Orchestra; and Vali Martinez, HS Orchestra. Students from around the state auditioned for the Honors Project last spring and only the best were selected to participate. They attended a four-day, intense summer camp, and will rehearse again in Madison before performing at the Wisconsin State Music Conference on October 27 and 28. Congratulations on this outstanding achievement!
Congratulations to the Varsity Boys Cross Country Team on their first place finish at the Greater Metro Conference Meet this past Saturday! Dillon Walker led the team with a second place individual finish, followed by Jack Wanezek in fifth, Calvin Redeker in sixth, Kobe Chapman in 13th and Will Cascio in 28th. Cooper Walsh, Owen Oertel and Troy VerStrate completed the Varsity Conference lineup. Germantown scored a total of 54 points, placing them ahead of Wauwatosa East (68), Sussex Hamilton (72), Brookfield East (85), Marquette (114), Menomonee Falls (153), Brookfield Central (188), West Allis Hale (225) and Wauwatosa West (230).
The Junior Varsity Boys placed second at Conference, led by Cody Rafn with a first place individual finish, followed by Nathan Pokorny in fifth, Eric Olson in eighth, Matthew Momper in 14th and Joey Knopp in 16th. Germantown scored a total of 44 points, placing them behind Marquette (30) and ahead of Brookfield East (88), Brookfield Central (125), Sussex Hamilton (145), Wauwatosa East (146), Menomonee Falls (228), West Allis Hale (269), and Wauwatosa West (300).
Last Saturday, the Germantown Girls' Cross Country Team placed 5th at the GMC conference meet. Going into the meet, the team knew that they were going to place in the top 5 teams but felt that they could finish as high as 2nd, with Wauwatosa East the overall favorite.
The course was flat but soft and slower than the team would have liked- they were already missing 3 of their JV runners so the team finished 7th. Anne Drinan was the first Warhawk finisher (41st), with Lizzie Gscheidmeier (43), Grace Pedersen (44), Brooke Jakubowski (50) and Jordan Knudson (58) following close behind.
In the varsity race things started out extremely well with the top 3 of Germantown's varsity 8 running well together. Lizzy Liker, Claire Reedy, and Samyiah Fox ran as a group through the 3K, followed closely by Erin Fredrickson and Izzy Mrzyglod. Fox finished with a personal best time of 19:53, which was good enough for 9th place. Her time places her 10th on the All-Time record board; she was one of 8 freshmen to place in the top 18 for All-Conference honors. Reedy and Fredrickson placed just out of all conference honors, in 24th and 25th place respectively. Mrzyglod was the 4th Warhawk finisher (47th), with Ella Armstrong following closely behind (50th). Liker, Elise Olson, and Keira Lorbecki were the three non-scoring varsity harriers.
On Thursday, October 20th, the girl's cross country runners not competing in Saturday's WIAA Sectional meet had great races in some of the best weather they had all season. Menomonee Falls' Rotary Park hosts its annual JV State meet with competition from as far away as Madison.
In the girls' "Fastest Race" 4 of the 6 Warhawk runners ran personal best times. They were led by frosh Elise Olson (pr), Angela Zheng (pr), Lizzie Gscheidmeier, Anne Drinan (pr), Savannah Wendorf (pr), and Grace Pedersen.
In the "Fast Race" Alissa Lorbecki led the group with a season best time, she was followed closely by Ava Borchardt (pr), Brooke Jakubowksi (pr), Jordan Knudson (pr), Kayla Uebele (season best), Cassie Zarder (pr), and Kayleigh Paradise (season best).
This meet has traditionally been a good ending point for the season- and the positive results the team saw gave the girls a lot of self-confidence in the work they've done throughout the season. Well done to all and good luck at Sectionals!
Good luck to the football team as they take on Slinger tonight in round one of the WIAA playoffs! You can purchase a ticket HERE for the game.

The GHS Boys' Soccer Team went up to Green Bay to play Preble for the first round of the playoffs. The team came out with a confident 4-1 victory! Goals came from Nick Glodoski, Bryce Hansen, Mike Otchere and Bennet Krause. These goals were assisted by Bryce Hansen, 2 for JV Myles, and Dax Schroeder. It only took 1 minute and 37 seconds for the first goal on a free kick from Dax Schroeder to Mike Otchere. Midway through the 1st half Preble equalized when the team failed to clear a ball in the box and they capitalized. With 2 minutes to go in the first half, Glodoski poked the ball past the keeper on a slide that was assisted from JV Myles to go up 2-1. Bryce Hansen finished a PK midway through the 2nd half. The final goal came from Bennet Krause on a nice through ball from Bryce Hansen. Next up the team plays Sussex Hamilton on Saturday at 7PM. You can get your ticket HERE! Good luck!
