Good luck at the Oak Creek Marching Knights invitational on Sunday!
On Saturday, September 24th the Germantown High School Boys’ Cross Country Team competed against 54 teams in the 84th Annual Midwest Invitational at Blackhawk Golf Course in Janesville. 89% of Germantown athletes ran either a season best or a lifetime PR during Saturday’s races, taking full advantage of the newfound fall weather. Dillon Walker led Germantown to a 9th place team finish in the Varsity Race, placing 9th individually with a new PR of 15:48, followed by Calvin Redeker with a new PR of 16:48, Will Cascio with a new PR of 17:11, Cooper Walsh with a new PR of 17:23, Kobe Chapman with a season best of 17:25, Troy VerStrate (17:47) and Eric Olson (18:05).
Owen Oertel led Germantown to a 7th place team finish in the JV Blue Race, finishing 13th individually with a new PR of 17:44. Cody Rafn with a new PR of 18:14, Joey Knopp (18:28), Matthew Momper with a new PR of 18:49, and Brayden Ebli with a new PR of 18:49 scored points for Germantown. James Goetter, Oran Voigt, Emerson Feltz, Kyle Privat and Dhir Patel all ran lifetime PRs during Saturday’s Blue race. Shay Nelson, Boston Reedy and Mason Kren ran season bests.
Tyler Oertel led Germantown to a 7th place team finish in the JV White Race, finishing 22nd individually with a new PR of 20:09. Vance Burnham with a season best of 20:24, Hunter Erdman with a new PR of 20:48, Brady Conell with a season best of 20:53 and Andrew Reineck with a new PR of 20:55 scored points for Germantown. Matthew Blodgett, Braxton Sievert, Drew Bengston, Alec Dayton, Austin Van Willigen, Jonah Miller and Carson Depies all ran lifetime PRs during Saturday’s White Race. Jack Gozdowiak and David Kinn ran season bests.
This was the Germantown Girls’ Cross Country Team’s first trip to the Blackhawk Golf Course and the Midwest Invite in Janesville- after today's impressive results it looks like they will need to go back in 2023 to try to duplicate the results!
The girls varsity placed 10th out of 40 teams- quite a surprise given the large number of teams and quality competition; the junior varsity placed 7th out of 40 teams. 13 of 15 Germantown runners had personal best times, there was also one season best performance. There were 3 for girls and 3 for boys, with an average of 280 runners in each. Full results at www.infocustiming.com
Medal winners in the JV race were Lizzie Gscheidmeier- 3rd place, and Savannah Wendorf 22nd. Elise Olson, Gscheidmeier, Wendorf, Anne Drinan, Brooke Jakubowski, Ava Brochardt, and Jordan Knudson all had personal best times in the race. Senior Joy Shill was just off her personal best, but ran a season best time by more than a minute.
In the varsity race, the 6 Warhawk runners blew away their personal best performances. Lizzy Liker (who medaled) ran 19:50 pr, while teammate Claire Reedy followed closely behind (44th place) with a personal best 20:08. Liker moves up to #7 on the top 10 list at GHS, Reedy earned the #10 spot. Frosh Samyiah Fox obliterated her personal best by more than 2:00- her 20:17 is now #11 on the top 10 list. Teammates Erin Fredrickson, Izzy Mrzyglod, and Ella Armstrong all had awesome performances- each beating their best times by more than twenty seconds.
Up next for the Warhawk runners is a trip on September 30th to Fond du Lac's Rolling Meadows golf course which has traditionally been a favorite venue for the team.

Congratulations to Em Foran for advancing to the Sectional meet next week in Fond du Lac. Em won a three player sudden death playoff hole with a birdie to claim her spot! Great job, Em!
Boys JV and Varsity soccer were away against Tosa West this week. The JV team dominated Tosa west to a score of 5-1. In the Varsity matchup the boys controlled the game but gave up an early penalty kick and went into halftime down 0-1. In the second half, GTown continued to control the pace of the game shooting 12 times but were unable to put in a ball into the back of the net, losing 0-1. Good luck next week at home against Brookfield East!
The Girls Swim and Dive team competed at Evanston, IL last Saturday against a few of the top teams in the state of IL. They finished 3rd overall with many season and lifetime best times. Top finishers for the Warhawks included:

The divers competed at the Bulldog Invite in Cedarburg that same day. Kristina Wittmann finished 1st and Fynn Langley finished 2nd out of 44 divers.
Last night the team hosted Brookfield Central for a dual meet. It was also Parent and Faculty Night. Thanks to the Faculty who came out and supported the Warhawks. The team had a fantastic meet and pulled out another Varsity and JV victory bringing their dual record to 5-0.

Good luck to the divers as they compete at the Racine Dive Invite tonight and to the JV swimmers who are competing at the Wauwatosa West JV Invite tomorrow. The team will travel to Brookfield East to take on the reigning state champs the Brookfield East Spartans on Thursday. Keep up the great work ladies!
The girls tennis team battled it out in conference this week!
Freshmen, Claudia Schilder, and Senior, Molly Nehring, fought hard and took away 3rd place for the Greater Metro conference.
Senior, Gwendolyn Clay won the consolation bracket in a battle against Brookfield as well.

The boys' volleyball team defeated Hamilton in three sets on Wednesday evening at home. Well done! Good luck as the varsity heads to a tournament at Whitefish Bay tomorrow and JV heads to a tournament at Marquette.
The girls' volleyball team continues to excel! They have only one loss in conference and they are looking strong as they head into an invitational at Cedarburg tomorrow. The JV team will head to Hartford for an invite as well. Good luck!
