Germantown High School has two nominees for the Milwaukee High School Sports Awards in boys and girls volleyball! Congratulations to senior Hunter Brandenburg and Junior Lily Wagner!
Congratulations to Jade Kanneberg. She was selected to the Bands of America Honor Band and performed in the 2022 Rose Bowl Parade on January 1. The BOA Honor Band is a 320-piece national ensemble with winds, percussion, and a flag and dance team. The members represent 213 schools from 39 of the United States and gathered together for the first time on December 27 to spend a week in Southern California for rehearsals, performances at the Tournament of Roses Bandfest and Disneyland, special activities, and a featured appearance in the Rose Parade® on New Year’s Day and for broadcast worldwide. Thank you Jade for representing Germantown on this big stage.
Congratulations to our MSG Ski Team! The first high school ski race of the season took place last night at Holy Hill and the MSG Ski Team came home with lots of medals! They raced Giant Slalom against Cedarburg, Mukwonago and University School. Varsity Girls took 2nd, Varsity Boys, JV Girls and JV Boys all took 1st place.
Top Finishers: Nick Peterson 1st on Varsity and Jackson Butzke 1st on JV. Great start to the season!
The Warhawks are finishing up a 4 consecutive games on the road (2-1 record) with a game tonight at Sussex Hamilton! Come out and support the boys! Freshmen @ 4:15, JV @ 5:30, and Varsity at 7:00!
The guys traveled to Marquette on Friday, December 17th and came out with a hard fought victory 64-61. Hunter Gosz had 19 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists. Alex Macksam had a double double with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Kalerick Terrell poured in 14 points with 7 assists.
On December 21st, the Warhawks defeated Wauwatosa East 67-65 with 4 players in double figures. Kalerick Terrell led the team in scoring with 19. Alex Macksam had a double with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Hunter Gosz finished with 14 rebounds, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists and Will Van Fossen chipped in 13 points to go along with some stellar defense.
The Warhawks dropped a game to Homestead on December 30th. Hunter Gosz had 19 points and Alex Macksam had another double double with 11 points and 14 rebounds.
The Germantown Girls' Basketball Team played two games over break at the Watertown Shootout, both against teams ranked #1 in their respective divisions. The Warhawks defeated Aquinas (ranked #1 in D4) 69-67 on a KK Arnold runner with six seconds left in the game. KK led the way with 25 points and 12 rebounds, while Emilie Wizner had 21 points and 10 rebounds. Lucy Leininger and Rachel Murphy each contributed 8 points in the win. The following day Germantown lost to Reedsburg (ranked #1 in D2) 88-79. The Warhawks scored 52 second half points, cutting a 21 point deficit down to 5, but couldn't quite complete the comeback. KK Arnold had her third triple-double of the season with 32 points, 14 rebounds and 13 assists. Danica Gosz scored 12 points on 4 3-pointers for the Warhawks.
The Bears started 2022 with 2 wins. On Tuesday the team beat Muskego by a score of 3-0. Jacob Reinke had the first goal / game winning goal in the first period when he scored short handed. Reinke then sealed the game with another short handed goal in the third period. On Thursday the team beat Arrowhead for the first time by a score of 3-1. The team travels to Naga-Waukee Ice Arena tonight to play KMMO (Kettle Moraine, Mukwongo, Oconomowoc). Good luck!
The Germantown Boys' Swim and Dive Team had a phenomenal meet against Waukesha West/Mukwonago on Thursday night. Great racing happened for both the JV and varsity teams. A few stand out swims were had by: Charlie Ragland taking 1st place both in the 50 free and 100 backstrokes; Connor Warmke had a come from behind win in the 500 freestyle and took 1st place in the 100 breaststroke; John Inga poured it on at the end of his race to earn the win in the 100 backstroke; and the varsity 400 freestyle solidly took 1st place at the end of the meet. The coaching staff could not be more proud of the guys and can't wait to see what the rest of the season holds.
The Warhawks wrestled in the E.H. Stech Invite on 12/17 and 12/18 take 3rd out of 24 team. The team had 1 champion and 8 other place winners: Owen Becker 2nd, Ryan Michalski 6th, Eli Rabideau 6th, Riese Thornberry 2nd, Talan Schutte 3rd, Ethan Riddle 1st, Jacob Momper 4th, Alex Pluta 3rd and Jackson Kirsch 4th. The following week the team wrestled in the 64 team Oshkosh on the Water Tournament and placed 5th. Six wrestlers ended up placing: Owen Becker 6th, Riese Thornberry 6th, Talan Schutte 2nd, Eli Rabideau 11th, Ethan Riddle 2nd and Jacob Momper 7th. Congratulations to Ethan Riddle on being named the Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament!
On Thursday night the Warhawks wrestled at Menomonee Falls winning 53-21 pushing their season dual record to 13-0. Earning pins for the Warhawks were, Ryan Michalski, Riese Thornberry, Kenny Roberts, Ethan Riddle and Jackson Kirsch.
