For home and away sporting/co-curricular events, it is important to remember that you are representing your school and community. Good sportsmanship is expected. Please cheer positively for Germantown and not against the opposing team, coaches or officials. Profane, racial, sexist or ethnic comments or other intimidating actions directed at officials, student-athletes, coaches or team representatives will not be tolerated and are grounds for removal from the site of competition. Germantown Activities Director, Mrs. Sara Unertl, presents Coach Dick Zache with his Wall of Fame Award

Last night we honored the exceptional achievements of long-time Germantown High School Swim Coach, Aquatics Director, Physical Education Teacher, Dean of Students and Social Studies Teacher Dick Zache.  These exceptional achievements are the reasons he was inducted into the Germantown High School Wall of Fame.

Coach Zache has over forty years of coaching high school and collegiate swimming experience, 16 years of which occurred at Germantown High School from 1990 to 2006 (the year the original pool went down).  During the course of Coach Zache’s years at Germantown, he coached both the girls and boys swim teams and the following achievements were attained by the swimmers and him throughout his tenure.

Coach Zache coached 99 All-Conference Individuals, he coached 88 All-Conference Honorable Mention Individuals, 91 All-State Individuals, 63 All-State Honorable Mention Individuals, 28 National All-Americans, 48 Academic All-Americans, 48 Academic All-State recipients, 9 Conference Record setters, 9 State Record setters, won two Girls WIAA Division II State Championships (as noted by the banners up on the pool walls), was a one-time Girls WIAA Division II State Championship Runner-up, coached teams to 6 Sectional Championships, 8 Sectional Runner-ups, and 14 National Top 25 Team Rankings (for both boys & girls), coached 17 Individual State Champions and 5 relay State Champions.  Additionally, he was named the Conference High School Swim Coach of the Year 10 times

Sectional Coach of the Year 7 times, the Wisconsin Girls High School Coach of the Year 2 times, received the Wisconsin Interscholastic Swim Coaches Service Award , was on the WIAA Swim Coaches Advisory Board for 3 years, was a member of WISCA for 15 years, served as the Top 50 times tabulator for 3 Years, and served as the Director of the WISCA Hall of Fame  for  3 years.

WOW!  What an incredible list of accomplishments.  This is truly a testament to Coach Zache’s hard work and dedication to the school, program and community.

Coach Zache has undoubtedly bettered the lives of so many student-athletes during his time at Germantown and in the surrounding swimming community.  Coach Zache has exceptional character, always stresses good sportsmanship and has a strong commitment to the sport.  He understands that relationships matter and that yes, there is more to life than swimming.  The life lessons he taught his student-athletes will carry on and will not be forgotten.  Thank you, Coach Zache.  Congratulations to Coach Dick Zache on being inducted into the Germantown High School Wall of Fame!

Last weekend, the Wall of Sound competed in the Greendale Marching Competition. They earned 2nd place in Class AAA. The rain was close, but the group stayed dry and performed well. Although the performance is just over 7 minutes long, the competition includes section and group warm-up time to focus on a great performance. Many of the preparation activities are led by the student leaders who do a fantastic job preparing the band for the show.

It has been a busy week for the Germantown Cross Country team!

Dillon Walker, finishing with a new personal best of 16:20, led Germantown’s Varsity boys in their 2nd place overall finish at the Fond du Lac Memorial Invitational on Friday, October 1st, followed by Gavin Sadowski with a new personal best of 16:31 and Cooper Feltz with a time of 17:21.

Germantown’s Junior Varsity boys had an outstanding 1st place finish in Fond du Lac, led by Joey Knopp (18:30), Niko Ciardo (18:37) and Cooper Walsh (18:37).

On Sunday, October 3rd, the boys along with several team families hosted an aid station at mile 24.7 of the Milwaukee Lakefront Marathon, handing out water and Gatorade to the athletes while offering encouragement as they finished some of the most challenging miles of the race.

On Thursday, October 7th, Germantown was represented by their Varsity B team at the Wolverine Invitational in Waterford. Niko Ciardo led Germantown in their 5th place overall finish with a new personal best of 18:24, followed by Joey Knopp with a new personal best of 18:26 and Cooper Walsh with a time of 18:41.

Calvin Redeker, finishing with a new personal best of 19:12, led the JV team in their 4th place overall finish, followed by Cody Rafn with a new personal best of 19:26 and Gabriel Spude with a new personal best of 19:37.

Germantown will compete again on Saturday, October 16th at the Greater Metro Conference Cross Country Meet.  Good luck!

The girls varsity runners- placed 5th overall at the meet.  Kaukauna, Neenah, Appleton East, and Stevens Point all finished ahead of GTown; however, the Warhawks were just 5 points behind 4th place Stevens Point. The JV team placed 6th in a field of 9 complete teams. There were 3 personal best times turned in by Germantown athletes- varsity runners Keira Lorbecki, and Izzy Mryzgold both ran strong races; senior Lauren Jex ran extremely well, placing 6th overall while running a personal best of 19:47 (this puts her #5 at Germantown). Khushi Tanna was the other medal winner for the Warhawks- her 20:12 was good for 12th place. Most encouraging for the coaches was the way the runners moved up throughout the races, showing discipline and then topping their races off with strong finishes.

The weather was hotter than most would have liked at this meet, but the girls continued to work on split management and running consistent times in all portions of the meet.

Next up for the team is the Greater Metro Conference meet on Saturday, October 16. Wauwatosa West hosts at Rotary Park in Menomonee Falls- conference teams Brookfield Central, Brookfield East, DSHA, Sussex Hamilton, Wauwatosa East, and Germantown will all be fighting for the top spots. Good luck!

Good luck to the football team as the host Brookfield Central tonight in their Homecoming game!  Thank you, Seniors!  (It is senior night tonight too.)

Gabi Cox and Em Foran competed with the best in the area of this year's Sectional meet at Washington County Golf Course.  The day capped off a great season with several individual and team records achieved.  Thank you, Seniors!

Good luck to the boys' freshman and JV volleyball teams as they compete in their conference tournaments this weekend.  Come on out to the boys' home match-up next Tuesday against Pius and celebrate the seniors for their senior night!  Good luck to the varsity team as they start to play in the conference tournament next week and weekend as well.

The freshman girls won their invitational at the falls on Monday afternoon and then went on to beat DSHA all three games on Tuesday. Way to go ladies!

The Varsity girls defeated the 3rd ranked DSHA Dashers in 5 games on Tuesday night! DSHA came into the match 4-0 while Germantown sat at 5-0 in conference. It was a battle 22-25, 26-24, 26-24, 23-25, and 15-6. Junior OH Lily Wagner lead the charge with 36 kills averaging 7.2 per set. Senior Madelyn Weyda was behind her with 19 kills and 24 digs.  Junior Josie Smith lead the team in blocks with 6, and Senior Quarterback/Setter Maddie Connor had 56 assists.  It was an awesome night of volleyball.  The Lady Warhawks stand at 6-0 in conference with two matches to go.
