Hello Warhawks!
It’s Homecoming Spirit Week….and that means dress-up days, school spirit, an all-school assembly, a “big game” and a dance! With all of those activities, we wanted to send out a few reminders, since it’s been a while since we’ve hosted all of these great events:
SPIRIT DAYS
Any costumes, decorations, etc. must be appropriate for the school environment. Please see the dress code in the GHS Handbook if you have concerns, or ask a staff member.
Any signs, stickers, photos, etc. posted in the hallways or on lockers must be approved (and stamped as approved). Unapproved items will be removed.
PEP ASSEMBLY
Students must go to their 6th period class on Friday prior to the assembly. Attendance will be taken. Students will be dismissed by an announcement.
Staff will be posted throughout the building to ensure that students make it to the assembly in a timely manner.
Students who do not wish to attend the assembly must have their absence excused by a parent/guardian via a phone call to the attendance office.
Students are to remain with their grade level in the bleachers unless they are participating in the activities. Students will not be allowed onto the Fieldhouse floor.
Students whose behavior is inappropriate or otherwise disruptive during the assembly may be subject to removal from the assembly and all subsequent Homecoming activities, including the dance.
FOOTBALL GAME
Mechanical noisemakers are prohibited by WIAA rules.
Please cheer positively for our Warhawks and not against the opposing team or officials.
Demonstrate appropriate school spirit and display good sportsmanship.
No carry in food or drinks are permitted.
Backpacks or other bags are prohibited.
HOMECOMING DANCE
Main Gym doors will open promptly at 7:00 P.M. Doors will lock at 8:00 P.M. No student/guests will be admitted after 8:00 P.M. Entry is through Door 14.
All students and guests need to present a photo ID to enter. GHS students are required to present their student ID for scanning. Students and guests must enter together.
All students and guests will be subject to random breath testing to check for the presence of alcohol. Those who refuse will not be permitted to enter.
Law enforcement will be contacted if it is suspected that a student/guest is under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
All purses/bags will be checked by a member of our staff prior to student/guest entry.
Any prescription medication should be in its original container.
All vehicles in our parking lot are subject to search.
High heeled shoes are not permitted on the floor of the main gym. A purse/shoe check will be available.
Once a student/guest leaves the dance, there is no re-entry allowed.
Parents are requested to pick up their students in a timely manner; the dance ends at 10:00 P.M.
We would like to thank you in advance for your cooperation and support as we work to create a memorable Homecoming experience for all students.
Go Warhawks!
