Congratulations to the Wall of Sound for their performance at the WSMA State Marching Band Championships last Saturday at UW-Whitewater. The band scored 83.075, placed 2nd in the AAA division, and won the Music Caption Award for the best music performance in AAA! All are new records for Germantown. Everyone was extremely excited with the results.

The WoS show is called Letters Home and is based on the letters a soldier may have written home. It also commemorates the 80th anniversary of D-Day. Thank you to SMSgt Jeremy Wilson, also a band parent. He shared with the students how valuable those letters were in an age before smartphones. Letters sent and received were a lifeline to the comforts of home. He also spoke about the impact the marching show had on him and other veterans.
The Wall of Sound would like to thank the many parents who helped make the show possible by fitting uniforms, feeding the band, chaperoning the competitions, building the props, hauling the equipment, and more. In addition, thank you to everyone who watched at the football games and stayed for the 5th quarter. The band appreciates your support.
GHS FALL PLAY: RADIUM GIRLS 11/1 to 11/3
Dramatic Impact presents its fall play: Radium Girls By D.W. Gregory
In 1926, radium was a miracle cure, Madame Curie an international celebrity, and luminous watches the latest rage—until the girls who painted them began to fall ill with a mysterious disease. Inspired by a true story, Radium Girls traces the efforts of Grace Fryer, a dial painter, as she fights for her day in court. Called a "powerful" and "engrossing" drama by critics, Radium Girls offers a wry, unflinching look at the peculiarly American obsessions with health, wealth, and the commercialization of science.
Radium Girls is recommended for high school age and older.

Greater Metro Conference Meet – October 18th 2024: The GMC meet was held at Greenfield Park, on a course the girls ran earlier in the season. The hard work they’ve put in during the past 6 weeks showed, with most of the team turning in faster times than they ran in the Hale Invite. The JV team finished in first, their 5th win of the season! Leading the team was Gracie Ballesteros (1st), Ava Borchardt (10th), Savannah Wendorf (12th), Madeline Quesenberry (13th), and Ella Armstrong (14th). The Varsity team finished 5th, led by Kate Ittner (23rd), Samyiah Fox (24th), Kierta Siegert (29th), Elise Olson (40th), and Carley Lorbecki (43rd). Those places earned Kate and Samyiah 3rd team all-conference honors. Well done to all!
Running new PRs were Carley Lorbecki, Ava Borchardt, Natalie Menzl, Alana Olstad, Kahlie Holloway, and Emmalyn Abraminko. Season bests were turned in by Clare Kanters, Dacoda Anderson, and Cassie Zarder.
