The Wall of Sound had a very busy summer. Their rehearsals prepared them for summer parades and for the fall marching season. Highlights include:
1) Germantown 4th of July Parade. It was the groups first public performance.
2) Wall of Sound camp, where they got a great start learning their fall show.
3) Performing at the Kiwanis Taste of Germantown is always a fun time to give back to the community.
4) They ended camp with a performance for parents, friends and more.
5) Richfield Days Parade was their first time to perform in uniform. It was warm but they looked great.
6) Performing for the home crowd at football games and welcoming the freshman at the tailgate is an honor the band is proud to accept.
The Wall of Sound thanks the many parents who helped feed, water, and chaperone the band. The support of the Warhawk Band Boosters is vital to the success of the band.
Please come out and support the Wall of Sound at Marching Band Madness on Saturday, September 14. High school bands from Cedarburg, Hamilton/Sussex, Franklin, and Greendale join the Wall of Sound in performing their fall shows.

The Germantown Boys' Cross Country Team competed on Thursday, August 29th at the Kettle Moraine Lutheran Charger Classic. On a tough hilly course with warm temps the Varsity Boys finished 2nd to Campbellsport while the JV Boys earned a team victory.
In the Varsity Boys race Jack Wanezek (4th); Jack Flynn (10th); James Goetter (15th); and Emerson Feltz (17th) all earned medals while in the JV Boys race Matthew Momper took the W - winning the JV Race by 47 seconds.
In the Varsity race GBCC put both their 5th runner (Liam Paruch) and 6th runner (Brayden Ebli) in front of Kettle Moraine Lutheran’s 5th runner. GBCC finished 6 points ahead of KML in the team standings and the efforts by Liam and Brayden were key in helping the team finish as the runner-up. In the JV race the team only beat Sheboygan Area Lutheran by 10 points so having Ben Armstrong (11th); Monroe Gaskill (13th); Hunter Erdman (15th); and Andrew Reineck (17th) packed up as the rest of the team’s scoring runners - which was key to winning the JV race.
Full results are available HERE
The team next races on Friday, September 6th at the Leighton Betz Invite at Greenfield Park. This event will feature a freshman race, JV race, and Varsity race giving different athletes a chance to shine.
Kettle Moraine Lutheran Invite – August 29th, 2024: The Germantown Girls' Cross Country Team made their season debut last Thursday at KML in Jackson. With a solid base of summer running, and two weeks of great practices, the team has developed close bonds. Race day was overcast and humid, and when the sun came out, it created very tough conditions that affected pace.
Despite this, the girls dominated the team competition, winning first place in both the varsity and JV races. Even more impressive was the JV team score of 15, the best a team can do. Cross country races take the places of each team’s top five runners, adds them up, and the low score wins; take the first five places, and you get a “perfect” score of 15. Elise Olson led the JV group in 1st place, with the team taking 14 of the top 20 places!
The varsity team was led by a group of 4, Gracie Ballesteros, Kate Ittner, Kierta Siegert, and Samyiah Fox. These four ran most of the race together in a tight pack, and were only separated by 21 seconds at the finish. Adeline Timm rounded out the team score, for a total of 39 points. FULL RESULTS
Next up is the West Allis Hale Invite, on Friday, September 6th, where the competition will be much stronger!
WSS Reporter John Pearson caught up with Germantown QB Vinny Inga and Linebacker Cooper Catalano after the Warhawks 20-0 win over Hartford on “Thursday Night Throwdown”. Vinny took on the offensive load and Cooper, who is committed to play for the Wisconsin Badgers was all over the field. Check it out HERE.
While Cooper Catalano is so much of the focus of Germantown Football because he is already committed to play for the Wisconsin Badgers, his sister Tatum was the star athlete at Germantown way before he was. Tatum talks about how a big sister can give him just enough grief to help keep him grounded and even talk about playing #6 Stanford on Friday Night! See the WSS clip HERE.
Good luck to the Football Team as they start conference play tonight against Menomonee Falls at 7pm away!
Germantown Girls' Golf had a busy week with matches. JV2 beat Wauwatosa at Blackstone on Wednesday! JV was at Currie Park against DSHA Thursday and earning low scores were Ella Larson (48) and Rylie Wille (50). Varsity had their 2nd GMC mini-meet Thursday with the low score 43 earned by Megan Grater! With a record number of girls out for the season (38), the team has had a lot of fun and success and hope to continue getting better rest of the season!
Germantown Boys’ Soccer played their first conference game of the season at Wauwatosa West. In a back and forth game, Wauwatosa West was able to scrap a late goal to win 0-1. On Thursday, the team traveled to Arrowhead to take on the 8th ranked team in D1. Arrowhead led the scoring with a first half goal but Germantown equalized in the second half by a goal from Adam Dethloff. Arrowhead then scored 2 more goals making the score 1-3. Late in the game, Dax Schroeder made it 2-3 from a freekick just outside the box. After a few great opportunities, the team was unable to find the equalizer and lost 2-3.
The Girls' Swim and Dive Team are well into their season and have started off strong. With a smaller and younger team this year, the girls are jumping right in and stepping up.
The team started the season with a dual meet against Nicolet High School on August 22.
Varsity - Germantown 110; Nicolet 68
JV - Germantown 136; Nicolet 26
Then just a few days later the Varsity team participated in the Earlybird Invite in Wauwatosa. Out of the 10 teams participating, Germantown took 2nd.
The next week, the girls participated in the Metro Swim Officials Association (MSOA) Invite. This invite helps to raise money for scholarships for boys and girls who have participated in High School Swimming. Last year, Audra Newkirk, one of our swimmers received a scholarship from the MSOA.. The team took 4th out of 10 teams.
Then on Thursday, the team hosted Wauwatosa West for its first conference dual.
Varsity - Germantown 122; Tosa West 53

Last night, the team swam against the combined team of Menomonee Falls and Sussex Hamilton. Unfortunately their numbers along were too much for us and we fell with a score of:

It’s been a great week for the Germantown Boys' Volleyball Teams.
The Varsity Boys' Volleyball Team was ranked #1 team in the state by Badger Region and last Saturday they had a strong start to the season and walked away from the Kettle Moraine tournament taking first place, not losing one set.
First away game of this season was in Menomonee Falls this past Wednesday – Varsity, JV & JV2 all won.
Congratulations to Senior Oakley Griggs (1) for being named among the Top 26 ranked boys volleyball players in the state by the Milwaukee Journal!
Also big contributions from Oliver Kelley passing a 2.28 from the libero position and Adam Emerson hitting .364 with 52 kills 6 blocks and 9 aces helped the team on the way to going 8-0 on the week!
Next tournament, Brookfield Clash is Saturday, Sept. 7 and the first home game is Wednesday, September 11 against Wauwatosa East.
The girls' volleyball program is in full swing of action. This week was the home opener against Brookfield East. JV2 won their match in an exciting 2-1 victory, Avlynn Spignola was a player to watch during the match as she kept the team hustling and made great effort plays. The JV1 team lost after splitting the first two sets. Kaliyah Terrell has a beastly swing from the Pin.
After one week, the Varsity team is figuring out their groove, finishing 1-3 at the Crusader Cup with a win vs Chicago based Resurrection and then facing Brookfield East in the home opener and losing the match in three.
Seniors Paige Boettcher, Megan Leedle and Tayler Gomolla are leading the Hawks offensively with kills, blocks and assists. This Senior trio is nothing to be trifled with in the Greater Metro Conference as they are playmakers fueled by the love of competing.
Although the team has a slow start in the win column, they can bring some serious heat on the floor and compete in the Greater Metro this year. The Hawks host the Invite this Saturday in the GHS Fieldhouse.
