The Germantown Boys’ Basketball State Championship Game teams will be honored on Friday, December 22, 2023 in the GHS Fieldhouse. 

State Champs in 2012, 2013, 2014 and Runner Up in 2015 players will be honored.  (There were 36 different players that were members of one, two or three of those four teams).

All of those players, coaches and their families are cordially invited to attend.  These players and coaches will be introduced at halftime of 7:00pm varsity game vs. Brookfield Central.

Ben Averkamp will also be inducted into the GHS Wall of Fame!

Sixty-three powerlifters competed in the Waterford Union High School Regional Meet this past Saturday.  The team did very well taking first place in both the men's and women's equipped team divisions.  Thirteen athletes from the team qualified for the WHSPA State Championships in March and 41 athletes qualified for JV or varsity High School Nationals in Louisiana this upcoming April.  MacKenzie Wells and Ariyo Sanyaolu also were awarded best equipped lifters of the meet.  It was a fantastic first meet of the year and the team is looking forward to their next meet on January 13th at Elkhorn High School!


The Tri-M Music Honor Society visited the Gables this week for a holiday sing-along. The students and residents shared their musical talents. The band students played while the choir students and Gables residents sang. Music reaches all generations and brings us all together.


The GHS Boys' Basketball Team is off to their best start since joining the Greater Metro Conference with a 5-0 record including the last 4 games away from home.   

On Friday, December 15th the Warhawks traveled to West Allis Hale and came out victorious 88-51.  Eleven total players scored in the game.  Cahlil Jones was the leading scorer with 19 points, 4 assists, and 4 rebounds.  Peyton Mckenna scored 18 points with four 3's, Mason Freiburger added 13 points and 8 rebounds and Carter Privatt chipped in 12 points and 5 assists.   

The boys squared off against #2 Division 1 ranked Marquette on Tuesday and came out on top 78-73 in an outstanding TEAM effort.   Cahlil Jones once again led the way with 22 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists.  Five 3's were made by Peyton Mckenna for a total of 18 points.  Carter Privatt had 4 assists and 4 rebounds and Mason Freiburger added 9 rebounds.   

Please come out and support the team tonight as they take on Brookfield Central at home.   

Last Friday the GHS Girls' Basketball Team used a 53-17 halftime advantage to go on to defeat West Allis Hale 71-34. Danica Gosz led all scorers with 19 points. Madeline Jakusz contributed 15 points and 9 rebounds, while Lucy Leininger filled the box score with 13 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, 5 steals and 2 blocks. 

On Tuesday the Warhawks continued their winning ways with a 75-53 victory over DSHA. Lucy Leininger again filled the stat sheet with 20 points, 8 rebounds, 3 assists, 5 steals and 3 blocks. Danica Gosz (18 points) and Reese Berge (10 points) also finished in double figures in the scoring column.  

The girls play Brookfield Central tonight and then finish out the 2023 portion of the schedule at the Watertown Shootout. They play Waupun (currently#1 in Division 3) on 12/28 and De Pere on 12/29.  Good luck!


The Gymnastics' Co-op Team is off until the new year when they take on Homestead at an invitational on January 6th at Homestead.  Good luck!

Bears Hockey held their annual Military Appreciation Night on Saturday, December 16th. The team raised $5,343, of which 100% of the proceeds will be donated back to Washington County VFW and US Hockey Players Support our Troops. The game started off quickly with the Bears scoring the first goal, assisted by Preston Filter, less than two minutes into the game. The Bears would find the back of the net about 7 1/2 minutes later with that goal assisted by Reid Newkirk and Stone Daczka. The team then got into a little penalty trouble and gave up 2 goals to make it a tie game at the end of the period. The Bears came out in the 2nd period and Preston Filter scored less than 2 1/2 minutes into the period, which proved to be the game winning goal, final score 3-2. 

The Bears then played Homestead in a conference game on Tuesday. Homestead would strike first, taking an early 1-0 lead in the first period. The Bears came back with Reid Newkirk scoring to tie the game, assisted by Stone Daczka. In the second period the Bears would score 3 times with assists coming from Trevor Newkirk and Stone Daczka on a shorthanded goal. Homestead would score one of their own to make it a 4-2 game. In the third period the team would score again assisted by Stone Daczka, skating to a 5-2 win.  

The team has won 3 games in a row and has a 3-1 Conference record. 

Good luck to the Girls' Hockey Co-op as they take on Middleton tomorrow night at the Madison Ice Arena!

The Germantown Boys' Swim Team took 5th out of 11 teams  last week Saturday at the Wauwatosa JV invite. Many of the boys had lifetime best times along with podium appearances.

This Thursday, the boys will participate in the Reindeer Game Scrimmage Meet against Menomonee Falls/Sussex Hamilton. Next conference duel is on Thursday, January 4 at Germantown. Keep up the good work!

 



The Warhawk Wrestlers picked up a huge conference win on Thursday night by defeating Brookfield Central 60-21 winning 10 of the 14 matches. Picking up pins for the Warhawks were Noah Sakac, Jake Momper and Mateusz Pawela. The wrestling team travels to Oshkosh for the 62 team Oshkosh on the Water tournament on 12/29-12/30.  Good luck!
