Germantown High School HOSA chapter members competed at the HOSA-Future Health Professionals International Leadership Conference held in Dallas, Texas, June 21-24, 2023.

Of sixty-one GHS chapter members who competed at Regional competition, twenty nine of those members qualified for the State Leadership Conference (SLC). At the SLC in April, nine qualified and five chose to compete at the ILC in Dallas. There they attended workshops, competed, networked-including meeting HOSA members from as far away as China, tested and explored Dallas. They went ‘Beyond All Limits’ and proudly represented Germantown.

The team is excited to ‘Dare to Create’, grow and compete next year for a chance to attend the ILC in Houston, Texas in June of 2024.

The Environmental Club took their 9th year backpacking trip to the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness Area this past June.  Twelve lucky students spent 3 days in the Porkies backcountry setting up camp, filtering drinking water, learning to hang bear packs, water testing, building fires, plant identification and making new friends.  The last day is spent at a group camp where telescope viewing takes place that night.

Students need to fill out an application and have a physical in order to go.  This application comes out 2nd semester so listen for announcements.  The Environmental Club has most of the equipment and students do not have to have backpacking experience, just a great attitude! Please see Mr. Krupicka, Mrs. Stoecklein, Mrs. Suprenand or Mr. McClellan if you have questions.

Congratulations to Rio Sanyaolu and MacKenzie Wells who competed in the International Powerlifting Federation's World Championship last weekend in Romania.  Rio brought home two medals, winning silver in the squat (285kg/628lbs.) and silver in the deadlift (275kg/606lbs.).  MacKenzie brought home four medals on her path to becoming Germantown Powerlifting's first-ever World Champion!  She won silver in squat (172.5kg/380lbs.), silver in bench (92.5kg/204lbs), gold in deadlift (175kg/385lbs.), and gold in total (440kg/970lbs.).  Congratulations to both lifters on these outstanding accomplishments!

The Pom and Dance Team competed at halftime of last Friday night's football game!

The Wall of Sound participated in Friday night's football game with a wonderful array of music!

The Wall of Sound had a very full summer. Practices started even before the school year ended. In June, Mr. Bell and a group of students attended the Music For All Summer Symposium at  Ball State University for leadership and music camp. Performances in the Germantown 4th of July Parade, at Kiwanis Taste of Germantown, and the Richfield Days Parade showcased the work the band did in the early season. Wall of Sound Camp was the very warm last week of July. The band worked very hard in the heat. They moved the Preseason Performance into the Field House.

The competition schedule begins on Saturday, September 9 with Marching Band Madness. You can come and see bands from Cedarburg, Antigo, Sussex-Hamilton, and Germantown perform under the lights of Datka Stadium. Tickets are available at the gate.

Brookfield Central Grade Level Challenge – August 26th, 2023

The 2023 Germantown Girls’ Cross Country Team had their season debut on Saturday at Mitchell Park in Brookfield.  With a solid base of summer running, and 2 weeks of great practices, the team has developed close bonds, despite having the largest Freshman class ever (15).  The girl’s hard work resulted in impressive performances.

Elise Redeker, Keira Lorbecki, Samyiah Fox, and Anne Drinan all ran personal bests, something that rarely happens in the first meet of the season.  11 of the returning runners ran faster than their times from the first meet last year, some more than 3 minutes faster!  This shows their level of commitment to summer running, and a desire to come into this year ahead of where they were a year ago.  And those Freshman?  They blew away their goals and turned in impressive times; more than a few will be vying for Varsity spots this season!
