Germantown Boys' Tennis had a great finish to the season. Conner Pallan and Cole Neinas qualified for the second year and were seeded 15th. They won their first 2 rounds and then lost in the round of 16 to the #2 seed. Casey Emerson and Adam Emerson qualified for state for the first time. They won their first round, by then lost to the #2 seed in the round of 32. It was an exciting way to cap off a terrific season by all! Looking forward to next year and good luck to the graduates!

A series of weather delays and unseasonably hot weather conditions at the State Track & Field Meet in La Crosse didn’t stop the Germantown girls and boys from ending the season with some incredible performances.

Division 1 competition got underway late Friday night and Germantown was well represented across the board with 24 athletes competing in 11 different field, sprint, relay and distance events. The night began with JV Myles competing in triple jump. His first jump of 47-4.25 went on to be the best jump of the night making JV Myles the 2023 State triple jump champion. Myles had a quick turnaround from his jump to anchoring the 4x200m relay (Vance Burnham, Will Van Fossen, Jonas Price and JV Myles with alternates Joey Knopp and Michael Otchere) that qualified for finals as the first of a string of back-to-back events for Germantown. Jayson Koel finished 17th (51.42) in the 400m run that night just before the girls 4x100m relay team (Macie Daniel, Addie Bushki, Rylie Olson, and Addison Braidigan with alternates Blyss McCune and Miranda Leffler) finished with a time of 51.51 to take 20th, followed by Jonas Price taking the 11th spot in the 300m hurdles (40.36)  just missing qualifying for Saturday’s finals. Just after midnight, Dillon Walker (9:31.81) competed in the 3200m run taking 19th before boys 4x400 relay team (Jonas Price, AJ Willard II, Joey Knopp and Bennett Krause with alternates Will Van Fossen and Jayson Koel) wrapped up Germantown’s night with an incredible performance, qualifying for Saturday’s finals.

Sophomore Piper Eby kicked off Germantown’s Saturday competition with an impressive 10th place finish and a throw of 116-11. On the distance side, the girls 4x800m team (Elizabeth Liker, Erin Fredrickson, Samyiah Fox, and Kate Ittner with alternates Ella Armstrong and Keira Lorbecki) had a near-season best performance despite the heat (10:03.97) finishing in 20th and shortly thereafter Dillon Walker finished 22nd in the 1600m run (4:32.66). The boys 4x200m relay team (Vance Burnham, Will Van Fossen, Jonas Price and JV Myles with alternates Joey Knopp and Michael Otchere) placed 4th (1:28.00), breaking their own school record before sophomore Jack Wanezek went on to run 1:57.15 in the 800m run, the third fastest time in Germantown history taking 9th. The 2023 State Track & Field Meet concluded with a season-best performance and 4th place finish by the 4x400m relay, running the third fastest time (3:19.77) in Germantown history.  WELL DONE TO ALL!

Also, Congratulations to JV Myles for being named as one of 12 finalists for Milwaukee area player of the year by the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
